In 1998, Second Wind® Pilates Plus® opened its doors in Mississauga, Ontario as the first Pilates studio and Certification facility west of Toronto. Today, the Second Wind® Teacher-Training school continues to offer one of the most original, thorough, and longest standing programs in Canada. Committed to advancing content, delivery, and format without succumbing to a fast track or profit-based model, Second Wind® continues to maintain the integrity of its multidisciplinary approach to the study of embodied movement. The training is now offered by three studios in Ontario.
The Second Wind® Pilates Plus® Teacher-Training program is a contemporary model that integrates current scientific research, while simultaneously preserving the essence of the original Pilates Method as it has become known to professionals worldwide. It is a unique blend of classical Pilates and up-to-date functional, expressive, and therapeutic movement training that addresses not only what we do but how and why we do what we do.
Fundamental movement principles, theory, functional anatomy, experiential exploration, and small class sizes of four to nine students ensure that each movement is consciously executed according to correct biomechanics, clear intention and personal understanding. Prioritizing the individual spirit and learning styles of each person who walks through our doors, we ensure mastery of movement practice, teaching skill, and service to others.
Second Wind offers training in The Second Wind® Method: Mat Pilates Plus® Integrated Movement Therapies (IMT)®, the Reformer, Cadillac, Chair and Barrel.
